Machinist (Apprentice)

Location: Hartsville, South Carolina, USA; onsite. Swing shift across 1st and 2nd shifts, with standard 8-hour shifts from 6:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m. Overtime, including weekends and holidays, may be required.

Pay: $27.40 per hour at the apprentice level. A $2,000 sign-on bonus is paid as $1,000 after 90 days and $1,000 after 180 days.

What you will do

• Operate manual lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC equipment in a machinery manufacturing environment.
• Program and operate NC mills using G-code or conversational programming.
• Set up machines and create fixtures for individual parts.
• Read standard and metric blueprints, apply GD&T, and inspect parts with machine-shop measuring instruments.
• Apply appropriate speeds, feeds, materials, and tooling while adapting between machines and assignments as workload changes.
• Document work, irregularities, and continuing needs while communicating with the partner on the other shift.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience with manual lathes, mills, and grinders, plus thorough knowledge of machine-shop equipment.
• Good working knowledge of CNC equipment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Prior assembly or fabrication experience using blueprints.
• Proficiency in G-code or conversational programming, blueprint reading, GD&T, basic math, and geometry.
• Ability to use OD/ID micrometers, calipers, depth micrometers, scales, and tape measures to check parts.
• Willingness to work overtime, including weekends and holidays, when needed.

Nice to have

• Technical degree in Machine Shop.
• Experience with Esprit, Mastercam, or similar programming software.
