Senior Software Engineer, Data Foundation – USDS (AI)

Location: San Jose, United States; fully in-person schedule up to 5 days a week

Salary: $187,040–$438,000 annually, with potential bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Optimize Apache Spark performance and resource utilization at petabyte scale.
• Improve ClickHouse and Doris OLAP systems through storage-compute separation and query optimization.
• Develop AI-powered resource allocation, cost optimization, job diagnosis, failure analysis, and data discovery tools.
• Build intelligent monitoring and self-healing capabilities for data pipelines.
• Design disaster recovery and data integrity mechanisms.
• Drive the technical roadmap, mentor junior engineers, and explore distributed systems and AI technologies.

Requirements

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience building and maintaining large-scale distributed systems.
• In-depth knowledge of Apache Spark and ClickHouse or Doris.
• Experience with AI/ML systems is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kafka and Flink at scale.
• Kubernetes experience.
