TL;DR
Mechanical Engineer I (Aerospace): Supporting the design, development, testing, and deployment of mechanical structures and systems for aerospace and defense applications with an accent on mechanical design, CAD, analysis, simulation, and product testing. Focus on validating designs, preparing technical documentation, troubleshooting test issues, and meeting requirements in multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado; office or hybrid environment. Occasional travel may be required. U.S. citizenship is required, along with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

Estimated starting salary: $64,853.15–$89,173.08 per year.

What you will do

  • Assist with the design and development of mechanical components and systems.
  • Support the creation and execution of mechanical product test plans.
  • Perform basic engineering analyses and simulations to validate designs.
  • Prepare technical documentation, design specifications, and reports.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to meet design requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical design and testing issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • 0–2+ years of experience in mechanical engineering or a related role.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical design principles and CAD software.
  • Experience with computer-aided engineering tools and conceptual knowledge of engineering practices.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary design and development teams and communicate technical information clearly.
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance are required.

Nice to have

  • Internship or project experience in the aerospace or defense industry.
  • Familiarity with GD&T according to ASME Y14.5.
  • Knowledge of parametric design, model-based definition, material and hardware selection, manufacturing, and production processes.
  • Knowledge of environmental requirements for aircraft and space components.
