Company

What you will do

  • Produce external documentation including user manuals, datasheets, and customer or contract deliverables.
  • Develop internal SOPs, work instructions, test plans, procedures, architecture descriptions, ICDs, configuration baselines, and engineering notes.
  • Edit engineer-authored material for structure, clarity, style, formatting, and consistency.
  • Improve documentation workflows, templates, infrastructure, and tooling across Confluence, SharePoint, PLM, and Google Drive.
  • Track design and configuration changes, maintaining current documentation, version control, and traceability from prototype through production.
  • Support technical reviews, product revisions, contract programs, new product introductions, proposals, white papers, capability statements, and RFI/RFP responses.

Requirements

  • Excellent written communication, technical writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • 2–5 years of technical writing experience preferred; strong recent graduates may be considered.
  • Technical background in engineering, technical communication, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, and system diagrams and work iteratively with engineers.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Word, Google Drive, and Confluence.
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residence is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with AUVs, UUVs, marine systems, robotics, or other complex hardware.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering documentation, configuration management, PLM, and defense or government contract standards.
  • Experience handling CUI or export-controlled data and applying ITAR/EAR or distribution markings.
  • Ability to create or revise basic diagrams, illustrations, and screenshots using tools such as Visio or draw.io.
  • Proposal or business development experience.

Culture & Benefits

  • Establish the documentation function as the company's first dedicated technical writer.
  • Work in an evolving, fast-paced environment with responsibility for creating structure and prioritizing multiple efforts independently.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and program management teams across reviews, testing, and product development.
  • Equal opportunity employer.
