Technical Writer (Hardware)

Location: Full-time onsite at the headquarters in American Fork, Utah, United States. Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

What you will do

• Create and maintain installation guides, preventive maintenance manuals, troubleshooting procedures, and other hardware documentation.
• Conduct hands-on teardowns and observations of mobile solar units, mast assemblies, power subsystems, and camera and sensor payloads at manufacturing facilities.
• Review engineering drawings, SolidWorks CAD models, bills of materials, and Engineering Change Orders to align documentation with hardware baselines.
• Develop structured single-source content in CCMS tools such as Paligo or MadCap Flare.
• Produce visual and video documentation, including annotated schematics, exploded-view diagrams, instructional footage, and hardware procedure standards.
• Partner with engineering, safety, field operations, customer support, product management, developers, and designers to improve documentation and reduce service errors.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience as a Technical Writer supporting hardware products in a fast-growing technology environment.
• Hands-on experience with structured authoring tools such as Paligo, MadCap Flare, or Arbortext.
• Familiarity with video capture equipment, industrial lighting and audio setups, and non-linear video editing software.
• Ability to interpret engineering documentation, CAD files, Engineering Change Orders, and engineering outlines.
• Ability to execute documentation projects under general supervision, clarify ambiguous specifications, and advocate for end-user clarity.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
