Fire Assay Technician

Location: Red Lake, Ontario, Canada; drive-in/drive-out rotation from Winnipeg, Manitoba, with two weeks on and two weeks off. The role requires onsite work at 16A Young St, Red Lake, with rotating 12-hour day and overnight shifts.

Compensation: CAD 23–25 per hour

What you will do

• Perform fire assay procedures including fluxing, fusing, and cupelling samples according to written instructions.
• Determine mineral and metal concentrations through laboratory analysis.
• Complete work orders, fusion sheets, logs, and other documentation accurately.
• Carry out routine equipment maintenance under supervisor direction.
• Follow quality-system protocols, report discrepancies, and maintain a clean work environment.
• Handle and organize disposal of crucibles, cupels, and fire assay lead waste; support other geochemistry laboratory areas and ad hoc projects as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of relevant laboratory experience, or equivalent laboratory experience through education.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions safely, accurately, and on time.
• Proficiency with computer software such as Word, Excel, CCLAS, and Oracle.
• Strong verbal and written communication, time management, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and with others.
• Must be comfortable working with ovens, high temperatures, physically demanding repetitive tasks, and rotating 12-hour shifts.
