Technical Process Operator (Extrusion Department)

Location: Amherst, Virginia, USA; onsite. The role requires a 12-hour rotating schedule between 7 AM–7 PM and 7 PM–7 AM, including nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional mandatory overtime.

Pay rate: $24.30 per hour plus a $1.50 shift differential.

What you will do

• Safely operate extrusion equipment to produce quality blown plastic film rolls for bag-making departments.
• Perform product quality checks, monitor temperatures, complete start-up procedures, and make process adjustments.
• Troubleshoot equipment and process failures, perform minor mechanical repairs, and complete preventive and autonomous maintenance.
• Set up equipment and perform changeovers by removing, modifying, adjusting, and installing parts.
• Process loose scrap, operate pallet jacks and forklifts, and maintain housekeeping and work-area organization.
• Record production and equipment metrics, complete paperwork, and communicate safety, quality, production, and resource issues.

Requirements

• At least 18 years old and a high school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of manufacturing experience.
• Ability to work onsite in Amherst, Virginia, on a 12-hour rotating day and night schedule.
• Ability to stand or walk for extended periods, climb stairs, work at multiple-story elevations, and perform bending, squatting, kneeling, and crawling.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull materials weighing up to 25 pounds and work with industrial cleaning solvents and inks.
• Clear communication, independent decision-making, problem-solving, coordination, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
