Location: Detroit, Michigan, serving Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb County; hybrid home-office and field schedule with travel to inspection locations. Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:30 PM EST. Travel outside the assigned territory and occasional overnight stays may be required.
Annual salary: $70,000–$85,000, plus an annual company bonus incentive. A $2,500 sign-on bonus is available to qualified candidates.

What you will do
- Review assigned homeowner and catastrophe property claims and contact insureds and other affected parties.
- Investigate claim facts, assess coverage, policy benefits, exclusions, recovery potential, and applicable state laws.
- Inspect property damage and prepare, review, and update damage estimates using claims software.
- Evaluate losses, negotiate settlements, approve appropriate payments, and create additional sub-claims when needed.
- Document, code, and close claim files in the claims management system, referring cases to underwriting, recovery, or special investigation units when necessary.
- Monitor contractor repairs when needed and support claim file reviews and training.
Requirements
- Complete the ACG Claim Representative Training Program or demonstrate equivalent knowledge or experience.
- Have three years of experience or equivalent training in claim settlement negotiation, evidence evaluation, estimating, subrogation, coverage resolution, statements, and claim planning.
- Be eligible to obtain a state adjuster’s license within 90 days of hire where required and maintain it as applicable.
- Hold a valid state driver’s license and safely operate a vehicle for property inspections and field visits.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of Michigan insurance law, fair trade practices, subrogation, intercompany arbitration, simple litigation, and building construction and repair techniques.
- Be able to travel outside the assigned territory, potentially stay overnight, and work evenings or weekends when required.
Nice to have
- Associate degree in business administration, insurance, claims, management, or a related field.
- CPCU coursework or designation, Xactware training, or completion of the Insurance Institute of America’s General Insurance Program.
- Homeowners claims experience, including personal property, additional living expense, water loss, fire, or smoke claims.
- Ability to walk on roofs, climb ladders, and lift up to 25 pounds.
