Field Claims Representative (Property and Casualty Insurance)

Location: Troy, Michigan, United States; field work across Oakland, Macomb, and Wayne counties. Initial training is in person, followed by a merit-based work-from-home program defined by leadership.

What you will do

• Investigate claims, assemble facts, determine policy coverage, evaluate losses, and analyze legal liability.
• Handle multi-line property and casualty claims in an assigned territory, with an emphasis on property claims.
• Study insurance policies, endorsements, and forms to apply coverage accurately.
• Drive claims toward resolution and attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials when necessary.
• Conduct investigations by phone, mail, and on site, and ensure accurate, timely claim payments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience handling property and casualty claims.
• At least 3 years of experience handling multi-line property and casualty claims, preferably with an emphasis on property claims.
• Strong written and verbal communication, complex issue resolution, data interpretation, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively with diverse individuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations involving geometry, sums, unit costs, and financial documents.
• Valid driver’s license, ability to drive an automobile, and a driving record meeting the company’s underwriting guidelines; authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

• Knowledge of Xactimate software.
