TL;DR
Data Center Engineer (Power/Cooling Infrastructure): Maintaining the operational integrity, reliability, and compliance of data center facilities with an accent on power, cooling, structured cabling, physical security, and hardware lifecycle management. Focus on performing rack/stack and cabling work, monitoring facility systems, coordinating vendor maintenance under approved MOPs, and responding to infrastructure incidents.

Location: Lexington, Kentucky, USA; on-site data center work with occasional travel to other data centers of less than 5%.

What you will do

  • Install, decommission, rack, stack, and cable data center hardware.
  • Maintain fiber and copper structured cabling, patch panels, cable integrity, and MAC activities.
  • Monitor UPS, PDUs, generators, ATS switchgear, cooling systems, environmental conditions, and humidity controls.
  • Respond to infrastructure alerts and execute incident response procedures during regular and after-hours operations.
  • Coordinate vendor maintenance, installations, and change activities under approved MOPs and change windows.
  • Maintain asset and chain-of-custody records, manage hardware logistics, and support capacity planning and optimization.

Requirements

  • 3–7 years of data center operations experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of data center power, cooling, cabling, physical security, asset lifecycle management, inventory systems, and CMDB integration.
  • Experience executing technical procedures under strict change control and MOP governance, with strong documentation and audit-readiness skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot infrastructure issues, coordinate with vendors and cross-functional teams, and work on-call hours during outages.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a data center environment, including after-hours maintenance and emergency response.

Nice to have

  • Experience in regulated or compliance-driven environments.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and related safety standards.
