Data Center Technician

Location: Sandusky, Ohio, United States; 100% onsite. The role requires participation in a rotating on-call schedule and responding to onsite equipment failures or emergencies within 60 minutes while on call. Up to 10% travel to other data center locations may be required. Applicants must meet U.S. export-control access requirements.

Salary: $65,000–$83,000 per year, plus discretionary bonus, equity awards, and benefits based on eligibility.

What you will do

• Maintain data center operations to support service availability, reliability, security, and defined service levels.
• Diagnose and repair hardware, networking equipment, and related software failures.
• Perform root cause analysis and provide technical support to data center teams.
• Assemble, install, maintain, and inventory servers, networking hardware, tools, and test equipment.
• Develop documentation and scripts for updating server and networking hardware.
• Train internal teams and participate in the rotating on-call schedule.

Requirements

• Hands-on or education-based experience troubleshooting and assembling computer hardware.
• Experience with the Linux operating system.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule in a 24/7 environment and respond onsite within 60 minutes during scheduled on-call shifts.
• Ability to lift and position equipment weighing up to 50 lbs and work in cramped, elevated, hot, and cold aisle environments ranging from 60°F to 90°F.
• Strong time management, organizational, communication, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
• Must satisfy applicable U.S. export-control requirements for access to controlled information.

Nice to have

• Data center, computer networking, or hardware troubleshooting and repair experience.
• Experience with Python, Bash, or other scripting languages.
• Experience with Cisco IOS or Juniper JunOS.
• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in an IT-related field.
