Structural Engineer, Entry Level

Location: Washington, D.C.; four days in the office, with flexibility to work outside the office on Fridays

What you will do

• Participate in the design of structural building systems from schematic design through construction administration.
• Develop structural designs from concept through construction completion.
• Prepare engineering design calculations, layouts, detailed drawings, reports, and narratives.
• Design and document gravity and lateral structural systems using concrete, masonry, steel, and wood.
• Coordinate structural design requirements with architecture and other disciplines.
• Assist with project objectives, goals, and documentation policies.

Requirements

• 0–5 years of building structural engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree from an ABET-accredited program in Civil/Structural or Architectural/Structural Engineering.
• Master’s degree in Civil/Structural or Architectural/Structural Engineering.
• Ability to prepare structural engineering calculations and documentation.

Nice to have

• Internship, co-op, or full-time experience with a consulting engineering or A/E firm.
• Passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.
• Experience with BIM workflows, including Autodesk Revit Structural.
• Knowledge of structural software such as ETABS, SAP, SAFE, RAM, ADAPT, RISA, or Enercalc.
• Experience or interest in sustainable building design.
