Associate Scientist, Formulation Development

Location: Groton, CT, USA; candidates should live within a commutable distance. Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required based on business needs.

Compensation: USD 25–30.5 per hour

What you will do

• Prepare prototype solutions, suspensions, tablets, capsules, powder blends, and semi-solid dosage forms for exploratory in-vitro and in-vivo studies.
• Develop oral, topical, and intravenous dosage forms for feasibility studies and small-scale manufacturing.
• Measure formulation properties including solubility, tablet hardness, disintegration, pH, isotonicity, color, and gelling tendency.
• Assess chemical and physical stability using in-vitro performance tests such as dissolution and precipitation studies.
• Identify formulation stability and performance issues and develop preparation protocols for preclinical and clinical study sites.

Requirements

• Experience with drug formulation and pre-formulation techniques and understanding of drug candidate properties.
• Experience with amorphous solid dispersions, including spray-dried dispersions or hot-melt extrusion, and modified-release tablet design.
• Basic wet or solid-state chemistry laboratory experience and familiarity with laboratory equipment.
• Experience with characterization techniques such as Raman, thermal analysis, and dissolution.
• Ability to follow procedures consistently, maintain accurate records, learn new techniques, and comply with company policies.
• Strong computer, organizational, mathematical or mechanistic modeling, communication, and attention-to-detail skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office.
