Director, Learning & Development (Construction)

Location: Onsite at the headquarters in Falls Church, Virginia, United States; not eligible for remote work

Base salary: $125,000–$180,000 per year, plus performance-based bonuses and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the learning and development function, including the LMS, proprietary content, instructional design standards, and compliance training infrastructure.
• Translate business and talent priorities into scalable enterprise learning programs, cohort-based development journeys, and leadership learning experiences.
• Oversee the HITT Futures internship and early career program, strengthening curriculum, mentorship, field exposure, feedback, and career pipelines.
• Lead craft, skilled trades, workforce development, and apprenticeship programs, including governance, curriculum, administration, and compliance.
• Partner with operations, Safety, HR, business leaders, subject matter experts, schools, and industry organizations to connect learning with operational performance.
• Evaluate and implement AI, immersive and simulation-based learning, AR/VR, adaptive learning, mobile learning, microlearning, and other emerging capabilities.

Requirements

• Experience in construction or the architecture, engineering, and construction industry is required.
• 10+ years of progressive learning and development experience, including leadership of a broad function in a large, complex, multi-location organization.
• Bachelor’s degree in learning and development, organizational development, human resources, business, education, or a related field.
• Deep expertise in adult learning, instructional design, experience design, and capability development for varied employee populations.
• Experience leading complex learning initiatives from concept through implementation, adoption, measurement, and continuous improvement.
• Strong people leadership, business acumen, communication, facilitation, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with early talent, workforce development, skilled trades, or apprenticeship programs.
• Knowledge of emerging learning technologies and methodologies, including AI, immersive learning, AR/VR, and adaptive learning.
