Senior Instructional Designer (AI)

Location: Columbus, OH; office-based workplace type

Salary: $70,000–$140,000 annually, plus eligibility for applicable incentive compensation and benefits.

What you will do

• Translate business, performance, and learning needs into strategies and learning experiences across digital, instructor-led, virtual, simulation, performance-support, video, job-aid, and blended modalities.
• Lead complex design projects from discovery, solution design, and prototyping through development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
• Use AI for research, ideation, content generation, storyboarding, scenario and assessment development, personalization, prototyping, and quality review while applying human judgment and responsible-use practices.
• Develop storyboards, prototypes, facilitator materials, participant resources, assessments, practice activities, and supporting assets focused on application, feedback, reinforcement, and performance.
• Partner with consultants, business leaders, subject-matter experts, Communications, Technology, vendors, and enterprise stakeholders; present recommendations and design rationale.
• Measure learning, behavior, performance, learner experience, and business impact, then improve, modernize, consolidate, automate, or retire learning solutions as appropriate.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of progressive experience in instructional design and development.
• Bachelor’s degree, or an additional three years of instructional design experience in lieu of a degree.

Nice to have

• Experience designing and developing learning solutions across multiple modalities and independently leading complex projects through implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
• Strong knowledge of adult learning, instructional design, learner experience, accessibility, performance-based design, and inclusive learning principles.
• Experience with learning technologies, digital authoring tools, rapid prototyping, Adobe Storyline, Rise, learning management systems, digital learning platforms, Microsoft 365, or Workday Learning.
• Experience using generative AI or other AI-enabled tools and evaluating generated output for accuracy, quality, instructional integrity, appropriateness, accessibility, and responsible use.
• Ability to influence stakeholders, navigate ambiguity, explain design rationale, communicate recommendations, facilitate discussions, and manage projects and stakeholders.
• Advanced degree, certification, or specialized training in instructional design, learning experience design, adult learning, educational technology, human performance, or a related discipline.
• Experience designing complex enterprise learning solutions, curricula, or learning journeys; measuring and evaluating learning; and designing accessible learner experiences.
• Experience coaching or guiding learning professionals, managing vendors or external development partners, and working in financial services or another complex or regulated environment.
