Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States; full-time hybrid role combining office and workshop attendance with work from home.

Salary: $209,700–$266,800 per year, plus a competitive equity package.

What you will do

  • Develop, integrate, tune, and validate control, trajectory-generation, and action-processing algorithms across vehicle platforms and driving conditions.
  • Maintain the controls software architecture connecting AI Driver outputs with real-time vehicle actuation and feedback.
  • Implement production-quality, latency-sensitive control software in C++ for prototype, reference, and production vehicles.
  • Use simulation, closed-loop evaluation, and on-road testing to diagnose controller performance and validate improvements.
  • Collaborate across engineering teams to define controller interfaces, integrate adjacent systems, and enable new vehicle platforms and product features.

Requirements

  • Strong fundamentals in control theory, with depth in optimization, model-predictive control, numerical methods, or dynamical systems.
  • Practical experience developing, tuning, and validating control or motion systems on real-world physical systems.
  • Strong software engineering skills and experience building reliable production-quality systems in C++.
  • Experience with latency-sensitive or real-time software.
  • Ability to reason about and debug system-level behavior across complex robotic software and hardware.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid setup based in the Sunnyvale office.

Nice to have

  • Applied experience with model-predictive control, trajectory optimization, or motion planning.
  • Experience with mobile robotics, autonomous vehicles, automotive systems, ADAS, or vehicle controls.
  • Experience with safety-critical systems, validation, and standards such as ISO 26262.
  • Applied machine learning experience or experience integrating systems with ML components.
