Substation CAD/BIM Design Lead (BIM)

Location: Irvine, California, United States

Expected compensation: $81,000–$110,000 per year, depending on skills, experience, education, and geographical location.

What you will do

• Lead multidisciplinary designers and CAD staff on detailed substation design projects.
• Develop and oversee BIM and CAD models that result in construction documents.
• Coordinate equipment, platforms, piping, and access requirements for operations, maintenance, and construction.
• Coordinate design activities with electrical, structural, and civil engineering disciplines.
• Prepare BIM Execution Plans covering software, standards, deliverables, workflows, and team responsibilities.
• Review drawings and models with clients or contractors, perform redline corrections, and mentor BIM staff.

Requirements

• Technical degree or a combination of education and related industry experience.
• At least 5 years of related industry experience; 10 years preferred.
• Advanced skills in 3D design software, document management infrastructure, and 3D coordination tools.
• Knowledge of engineering or architectural concepts, industry standards, discipline codes, and specifications.
• Excellent communication, attention to detail, organizational, leadership, and mentoring skills.
• Competency with Microsoft Office products and communication tools.

Nice to have

• Experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
• Thorough knowledge of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, MicroStation, and Revit.
