Principal R&D Engineer (Mechanical Product Development)

Location: Onsite in Monterrey, Mexico; availability to travel 20–30% of the time.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end mechanical product development, including feasibility studies, technology trade-offs, prototypes, customer-informed iterations, validation, certification, and commercialization.
• Serve as the technical owner for key mechanical platforms and align product families and regional programs.
• Set mechanical design-for-manufacturability standards and influence tooling, capital investment, and supplier capability decisions with operations.
• Define mechanical design standards, specifications, and validation approaches across development programs.
• Manage engineering requirements, priorities, and gated NPI execution to maintain launch readiness and on-time progression.
• Lead design reviews, FMEAs, risk mitigation, and customer discussions about installation and performance requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10+ years of progressive product development experience, including ownership of sophisticated mechanical systems.
• Advanced English proficiency required.
• Experience setting mechanical design strategy and guiding technical decisions across multiple programs.
• Deep expertise in machining and plastics, including evaluation of manufacturing processes for cost, risk, and scalability.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks assemblies, modeling, drawings, and PDM/PLM systems.
