TL;DR
Weapon System RF/Electrical Engineer (Radar and Missile Defense): Evaluating RF sensors, radar performance, tactical data links, and electromagnetic effects for US Navy weapon systems with an accent on radar trade-offs, link budgets, interference mitigation, and telemetry analysis. Focus on integrating shipboard C2 and guided missile systems, supporting missile flight tests, and reviewing RF-related weapon specifications and technical data.

Location: Arlington, VA; 100% on-site and in-office; not eligible for hybrid or remote work

What you will do

  • Assess RF sensor, seeker tracking algorithm, antenna, and radar performance across missile and terminal defense systems.
  • Perform radar trade-off studies, RF propagation modeling, link budget calculations, and fade margin analysis.
  • Evaluate RF uplinks, downlinks, and tactical data links connecting shipboard C2, SSDS, and Aegis systems with guided missile weapons.
  • Analyze electromagnetic environmental effects, electromagnetic interference, receiver saturation, and HERO/HERP/HERF safety compliance.
  • Review firing policies, fire control logic, emitter management, and mutual interference constraints during multi-target engagements.
  • Support missile flight testing, telemetry analysis, RF target augmentation, technical data reviews, and evaluations of engineering change proposals and interface documents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a DoD systems engineer working on requirements analysis, weapon systems integration analysis, or weapon systems design.
  • Eligibility for a DoD Secret clearance is required.
  • Ability to collaborate with technical, acquisition, administrative, and subcontractor personnel.
  • Ability to develop and deliver clear, concise customer presentations.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Experience with Navy terminal defense systems such as RAM and CIWS.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance and prior SIPR account or SIPR systems experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
