System Security Engineer

Location: NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland and/or remote within the United States

What you will do

• Manage firewalls, IP addressing, vulnerabilities, and system compliance.
• Analyze architecture, system functionality, network security, and enterprise IT infrastructure.
• Investigate logs for incident remediation and threat hunting.
• Troubleshoot security and network problems across a broad range of technologies.
• Support information assurance, vulnerability assessment, enterprise protection planning, security monitoring, incident response, and cyber threat analysis.
• Coordinate formal responses to major intrusions and exploits, including SIEM pattern analysis based on threat intelligence feeds.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or four years of equivalent experience.
• At least two years of hands-on firewall management experience.
• At least two years of hands-on vulnerability management experience.
• Working knowledge of network design, network security, and firewall technologies.
• Experience identifying network and system vulnerabilities with tools such as Tenable.SC and BigFix.
• Experience with log analysis, security investigations, problem-solving, organization, and technical communication.

Nice to have

• Experience with Fortinet, Symantec Endpoint Protection, and Arista or Cisco ACLs.
• Experience with Splunk.
