Billing & Insurance AR Specialist (Medical Billing)

What you will do

• Manage assigned accounts receivable balances aged 45 days or more and review EOBs within a two-week turnaround.
• Follow up with insurance carriers and patients regarding outstanding balances, claims, and payment resolution.
• Research payer issues, re-file claims, review billing edit failures, and correct claims for clean submission.
• Document collection activity, prepare adjustment write-off forms, and produce daily reports for supervisor review.
• Collaborate with the RCM team, patients, physicians, and insurance companies to support accurate and timely payment.
• Maintain knowledge of oncology coding and carrier requirements, including HCPCS, CPT, and ICD codes.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• At least three years of medical collections experience required, preferably in an oncology healthcare setting.
• Expertise in medical billing, insurance policies, reimbursement processes, Medicare, and Medicaid.
• Detailed knowledge of HCPCS, CPT, and ICD codes.
• Strong communication, analytical, negotiation, problem-solving, organizational, multitasking, and customer service skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, databases, patient billing systems, and other medical information systems.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Radiation oncology or proton therapy experience.
• Previous commercial collections experience.
