TL;DR
Medical Billing Coding Analyst (Oncology Revenue Cycle): Reviewing clinical documentation, assigning ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS codes, and correcting claims for the Research Billing Department with an accent on payer denials, reimbursement guidelines, and coding accuracy. Focus on applying LCD/NCD policies, using Optum Encoder and CMS guidelines, and maintaining at least 95% coding accuracy.

Location: Hybrid position based at 3001 E. President George Bush Hwy, Suite 100, Richardson, Texas, United States. Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; regular presence at the employee site is required during scheduled business hours.

What you will do

  • Review coding-change requests involving CPT/HCPCS, diagnoses, modifiers, place of service, authorizations, units of measure, MUE, and NDC.
  • Abstract clinical information from medical records and provider documentation to assign ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS codes.
  • Correct coding errors after claim processing or payer denials and refile corrected claims.
  • Apply LCD/NCD policies, CMS guidelines, reimbursement rules, and the appropriate CMS regional requirements.
  • Use Optum Encoder and other coding tools while maintaining at least 95% accuracy in internal quality reviews.
  • Support the Research Billing Department and report to the Business Office Director.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of the AAPC Certified Professional Coder exam is required.
  • At least three years of medical coding experience is required.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to work in person at the Richardson site during regularly scheduled business hours.
  • Level 1 position based on relevant candidate experience.

  • Prior oncology experience.
  • Prior medical billing experience.
