Senior Systems Engineer

Location: Washington Navy Yard and nearby office locations in Washington, DC; onsite work is required up to 5 days a week, with telework possible only with customer approval. Occasional travel may be required to naval locations including Norfolk, VA, and San Diego, CA.

What you will do

• Support the Program Manager and Deputy Program Manager on a large Naval Sea Systems Command support services contract.
• Integrate network operating systems, application programs, and hardware devices into cohesive technical systems.
• Manage software, hardware, and web application development activities from specification and design through coding, testing, rollout, and maintenance.
• Support resilient system development while balancing technical requirements, costs, schedules, and project considerations.
• Contribute to systems engineering and technical support for a contractor team of approximately 200 personnel, including subcontractors.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
• High school diploma or GED plus 20 years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline plus 15 years; or a master's degree in such a discipline plus 10 years.
• Relevant experience must involve Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys, and/or Laser software system or subsystem design, development, production, or testing.
• Regular onsite work at the Washington Navy Yard and nearby office locations is required.
• No certification is required.

Nice to have

• Active Secret Clearance.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Knowledge of Navy and Department of Defense policy and guidance.
• Experience with systems engineering technical reviews, technology readiness, technical performance measures, combat systems integration, and requirements decomposition.
• Experience with model-based systems engineering, program protection, and risk management processes.
