Location: Hybrid field role based in Detroit, Michigan, serving Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties. Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:30 PM EST, with travel to homes, repair facilities, and other field locations; travel outside the assigned territory and occasional overnight stays may be required.
Annual salary: $70,000–$85,000, plus an annual company bonus incentive and a $2,500 sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.

What you will do
- Review assigned homeowner property claims and contact insured parties and other affected stakeholders.
- Investigate facts, property damage, coverage applicability, exclusions, recovery potential, and applicable state law.
- Prepare and review damage estimates using claims software and evaluate the financial value of losses.
- Identify policyholder benefits, create sub-claims when needed, and approve appropriate payments.
- Document claim files, complete closure activities, and refer cases to underwriting, recovery, or special investigation units.
- Monitor contractor repairs and support claim file reviews and training when required.
Requirements
- Complete the ACG Claim Representative Training Program or demonstrate equivalent knowledge or experience.
- Have three years of experience or equivalent training in claim settlement negotiation, evidence evaluation, estimating, subrogation, coverage resolution, statements, and claim resolution planning.
- Be eligible to obtain and maintain a state adjuster license within 90 days where required.
- Hold a valid state driver’s license and safely operate a motor vehicle for field inspections.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of Michigan insurance law, fair trade practices, subrogation, intercompany arbitration, simple litigation, and building construction and repair techniques.
- Be able to analyze claims, communicate effectively, manage time-sensitive information, and travel outside the assigned territory.
Nice to have
- Associate degree in business administration, insurance, claims, management, or a related field.
- CPCU coursework or designation, Insurance Institute of America General Insurance Program, or Xactware training.
- Homeowners claims experience, including personal property, additional living expense, water loss, fire, or smoke claims.
- Ability to walk on roofs, climb ladders, and lift up to 25 pounds.
