Senior Principal Controls Engineer

Location: Marion, North Carolina, United States; applicants must already be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

Salary: $128,000–$176,000 annually, plus potential discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Supervise 3–5 Controls Engineering team members and provide day-to-day engineering support.
• Lead plant automation, process optimization, manufacturing capacity analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Design, install, start up, test, troubleshoot, and optimize new and existing equipment and control systems.
• Plan, execute, and report process validation activities, including protocols, operating instructions, testing, experiments, and data analysis.
• Lead equipment change controls, NCR/CAPA investigations, regulatory compliance activities, and capital project budgets.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, service, maintenance, and other internal and external functions while providing technical mentorship.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in a similar role and 8+ years of Rockwell PLC experience.
• Experience with Rockwell and Yaskawa servo control systems.
• Proficiency with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, AB500, safety PLCs, and Allen-Bradley HMI systems.
• Ability to read and write electrical schematics, perform hands-on mechanical troubleshooting, and use AutoCAD for drafting.
• U.S. work authorization is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with Fanuc, Yaskawa, and Staubli robotics.
• Experience with Cognex and Keyence vision systems.
• Knowledge of C#, C++, VB, or SQL Server.
