Senior AI Engineer (MedTech)

Location: Hybrid (USA)

Compensation: $175,000 – $210,000 + Equity

What you will do

• Build and own the core symptom and query routing engine for the AI agent.
• Develop models to map complex patient queries to urgency classifiers, providers, and specialties.
• Create learned decision trees to infer necessary follow-up questions for patient insights.
• Collaborate with medical professionals to build generalizable representations of symptoms and body systems.
• Implement self-learning models that iterate based on real user data and clinical diagnoses.
• Establish and track quality metrics to drive long-term model improvement.

Requirements

• 7+ years of ML engineering experience.
• Proficiency with foundational ML models including learned decision trees, deep learning, and reinforcement learning.
• Strong backend engineering skills and systems thinking.
• Experience solving ambiguous problems from first principles.
• Proven ability to turn research or novel techniques into testable prototypes.

Nice to have

• Experience with evaluation frameworks and model quality measurement.
• Background in medical AI systems.
• Experience designing human-in-the-loop workflows for machine learning.
