What you will do
- Schedule surgeries from physician orders, including operating-room dates, anesthesia, surgical assistants, representatives, and required equipment.
- Coordinate pre-operative testing, diagnostic imaging, surgical clearances, and related authorizations.
- Communicate surgery dates, preparation requirements, appointment details, and patient responsibility information.
- Act as a liaison between patients, physicians, payors, offices, and surgical facilities, escalating issues when needed.
- Maintain complete medical records by scanning surgery documents and obtaining pathology, operating-room, and other reports.
- Sequence and follow up on multiple provider inputs and schedule required follow-up appointments.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Level 1: 0–2 years of surgical practice or office experience, including insurance authorization, verification, or scheduling.
- Level 2: At least 3 years of experience in a clinical or procedural scheduling environment.
- Senior level: At least 5 years of surgical practice or office experience; an associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical and surgical terminology, excellent written and verbal communication, and strong multitasking skills.
- Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
