Category Specialist - Strategic Sourcing (Manufacturing)

Location: Hagerstown, Maryland, United States; primarily office-based with 10–20% travel.

Salary: $73,200–$117,800 per year.

What you will do

• Gather, manipulate, and analyze spend, commodity, and category data.
• Research categories using internal and external data, interpret market trends, and identify value-capture opportunities.
• Support strategic sourcing initiatives and category management activities, with potential leadership of sub-categories.
• Manage supplier relationships and engagement while assessing suppliers and supply markets.
• Assist with and lead long-term agreement negotiations.
• Identify and communicate supply-chain risks, pricing, and total-cost-of-ownership considerations; coordinate programs from concept through launch.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience in supply chain management or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with data analytics tools and category or commodity analysis.
• Knowledge of suppliers, supply markets, supplier relationship management, and strategic sourcing processes.
• Ability to understand engineering technical drawings, taxonomy, and technical grammar.
• Ability to travel 10–20%.
• Proficiency with web-based applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
