Data Steward – Data Operations (NY)

Location: New York, NY; hybrid schedule with office attendance on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays

Annual base salary: $75,000–$90,000

What you will do

• Process standard and complex analytical rating requests independently under established SOPs.
• Create and maintain entities, transactions, securities, ratings, identifiers, and reference data throughout the rating lifecycle.
• Research internal documentation and external sources to resolve atypical scenarios and data discrepancies.
• Perform data corrections, profiling, reconciliation, and ad hoc updates while maintaining data quality.
• Coordinate workflows with analytical teams, Corporate Assessments, Electronic Publishing, Compliance, and Technology.
• Document procedures and contribute to automation and AI-driven process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in financial services or 2 years within a credit rating agency.
• Bachelor's degree required; Finance, Economics, Business, Information Systems, STEM, or a related field preferred.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
• Experience with fixed-income products, reference data, entity management, ratings operations, or data quality initiatives is preferred.
• Basic to intermediate SQL skills and intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated commitment to data accuracy.

Nice to have

• Basic Python knowledge and experience with Jira or similar workflow management tools.
• Experience with data governance, metadata, entity master data, transaction master data, or security master data.
• Familiarity with fixed-income securities, structured finance, corporate ratings, or related financial products.
• Experience using generative AI and AI-powered productivity tools such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, Claude, or Gemini.
