Data Analyst (Power BI)

Location: Houston, Texas, USA; hybrid schedule with three days per week at the SSP office or schools and two days working from home. Travel to other regions or sites is expected for 5%–10% of the year, with reliable transportation required for travel between campuses.

Salary: $60,000–$85,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Power BI data models and interactive dashboards using Power Query and DAX.
• Support the migration of reporting assets from Tableau to Power BI, including data-source verification, report recreation, and validation protocols.
• Test, validate, and performance-tune reports and data models while implementing Power BI Service security, row-level security, and workspace access.
• Execute complex ad-hoc SQL requests and transform large, disparate data sources into actionable analysis for leadership.
• Partner with academic, finance, school, and regional stakeholders to assess analytics needs and deliver assessment reporting.
• Collaborate with the Data Systems Team on data warehouse architecture and ETL/ELT processes, while supporting documentation, code review, and data literacy.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 2–4 years of analytics experience.
• Advanced Power BI expertise, including report design, star-schema data modeling, DAX, and Power Query.
• Mastery of SQL, relational databases, data warehousing concepts, and complex data extraction.
• Experience with the Azure Data Ecosystem, ETL/ELT processes, large datasets, data cleaning, and validation.
• Strong statistical analysis skills with proficiency in Python or R, plus advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex findings to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with Tableau, particularly in the context of a reporting migration.
