Senior Mechanical Engineer - Gas & Energy

Location: Overland Park, Kansas, United States. Four days per week are worked in the office, with flexibility to work outside the office on Fridays.

What you will do

• Lead mechanical systems design for energy and infrastructure projects, including utility-scale generators, CHP systems, and emerging energy-production technologies.
• Develop detailed mechanical engineering drawings and calculations for projects ranging from 5MW to 500+MW.
• Create and coordinate construction documents using Autodesk Revit or AutoCAD.
• Perform mechanical, plumbing, and gas-piping calculations, including code research.
• Write and review specifications, shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals.
• Manage mechanical and interdisciplinary project teams and conduct site visits when needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including HVAC, central utility plants, plumbing, fire suppression systems, and gas piping.
• Working knowledge of design and construction processes and the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
• Knowledge of Autodesk Revit and/or Autodesk AutoCAD.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with BIM and Autodesk Revit workflows.
• Experience developing P&IDs.
• Experience with fuel systems and generator integration.
• Experience with PIPE-FLO, SmartPlant, or AutoCAD Plant 3D.
