TL;DR
Junior RF/Electrical Engineer (Radar and Weapon Systems): Assessing RF sensors, radar performance, tactical data links, electromagnetic interference, and missile telemetry for US Navy weapon system engineering and acquisition support with an accent on RF propagation, link budgets, seeker tracking, and shipboard C2 integration. Focus on analyzing complex threat profiles, mitigating mutual interference and electromagnetic effects, supporting missile flight tests, and reviewing RF-related technical data.
Location: Arlington, VA; 100% on-site, in-office. Not eligible for hybrid or remote work. Limited travel of less than 10% is required.

What you will do
- Assess RF sensor performance, seeker tracking algorithms, antenna subsystems, detection range, clutter rejection, and target acquisition for missile and terminal defense radar systems.
- Conduct radar trade-off studies, RF propagation modeling, link budget calculations, and fade margin analyses.
- Analyze RF uplinks, downlinks, telemetry, and tactical data links connecting shipboard C2, SSDS, and Aegis baselines with guided missile systems.
- Evaluate and mitigate electromagnetic environmental effects, electromagnetic interference, receiver saturation, and HERO, HERP, and HERF safety risks.
- Support firing policy reviews, missile flight test planning and execution, RF target augmentation, and post-flight sensor performance analysis.
- Review OEM engineering change proposals, weapon specifications, technical data packages, and interface control documents related to RF hardware and electronic protection enhancements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline.
- Eligibility for a DoD Secret clearance is mandatory.
- Ability to collaborate with technical, acquisition, administrative, and subcontractor teams.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, communication, and customer presentation skills.
Nice to have
- Exposure to systems engineering for Navy terminal defense systems such as RAM and CIWS.
- An active DoD Secret clearance.
