AN/SPY-6(V) Training Instructor

What you will do

• Deliver classroom instruction on SPY-6(V) radar theory, system architecture, maintenance procedures, and operational employment.
• Conduct hands-on laboratory training using SPY-6(V) training devices, systems, and simulations.
• Facilitate operator and maintainer qualification events and evaluate student performance.
• Develop and maintain lesson plans, student guides, training materials, and technical documentation.
• Provide subject matter expertise on radar capabilities, limitations, system behavior, and best practices.
• Support course modernization, technical working groups, configuration control, troubleshooting demonstrations, and readiness feedback.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain or maintain a DoD Secret clearance are required.
• Comprehensive knowledge of AN/SPY-6(V) radar systems, architecture, and operational employment.
• Experience in Navy radar operations, maintenance, or combat systems.
• Prior instructional experience or the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
• Strong understanding of Aegis Combat System components and their integration with SPY-6 radar.
• Ability to analyze technical data, interpret system behavior, and guide students through troubleshooting logic.

Nice to have

• Navy Master Training Specialist qualification or prior fleet or training command instructor experience.
• Experience as an Aegis SPY technician or Aegis Fire Controlman.
• Experience supporting ATRC, NSWC Dahlgren, NAVSEA, or Integrated Combat Systems.
• Familiarity with SPY-6(V) variants, Family of Radar experience, radar performance analysis, electromagnetic theory, or maritime sensor employment.
• Experience with AIM, CPM, or IMI courseware; an associate’s degree, Navy NECs, CSEDS Training, or BMD background.
