Fire Protection Engineer

Location: Must be based out of an hirify.global office in North Carolina: Charlotte, Raleigh, Winston-Salem, Asheville, or Wilmington, United States.

What you will do

• Manage fire protection scopes for complex commercial and institutional projects.
• Evaluate and apply standard and advanced engineering techniques to resolve fire protection issues.
• Develop concepts, working drawings, specifications, and complex fire protection system designs.
• Review drawings, contract documents, shop drawings, engineering data, and requests for information.
• Coordinate work with clients, contractors, designers, drafters, and other engineering disciplines.
• Monitor project schedules and budgets, prepare status reports, and visit project sites when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the position's location, such as a PE or P.Eng.
• Previous experience with commercial or institutional facilities; at least 3 years is preferred.
• Experience with MS Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, and manufacturer selection software.
• Commitment to active participation in an employee-owned culture.
• Ability to work from one of the specified North Carolina offices.

Nice to have

• Experience with healthcare, science and technology, or civic facilities.
• NICET III or NICET IV certification.
• Experience or interest in sustainable design and LEED.
• Local North Carolina candidacy.
