Underwriter, Private and Non-Profit, Financial Lines

Location: Toronto, Canada; primarily in the office

Salary: CAD 64,000–80,000 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus.

What you will do

• Underwrite new and renewal business in Private and Non-Profit Financial Lines.
• Develop insurance solutions for complex risks and support profitable growth.
• Work with brokers to communicate risk appetite, understand deal structures, and align products with client needs.
• Negotiate pricing, terms and conditions, and deal structures with brokers and clients.
• Expand the broker network through events and new market relationships.
• Collaborate with distribution, territory managers, and underwriters across business lines on target accounts and cross-selling opportunities.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of Management Liability underwriting experience.
• Post-secondary education or equivalent industry education and experience.
• Ability to analyze financial statements.
• Strong communication, networking, and relationship-building skills.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Customer- and sales-oriented approach with motivation, tenacity, technical ability, proactivity, and accountability.
