Construction (Aviation) Engineer / Manager - Airfield Infrastructure (Aviation)

Location: On-site in Bloomington, Minnesota, with travel to airport construction sites throughout Minnesota and the United States; up to 75% travel may be required.

Salary: $73,600–$81,800 per year, reflecting the starting base pay range for candidates with 0–5 years of related experience.

What you will do

• Oversee day-to-day construction activities at commercial and general aviation airports.
• Inspect construction work against plans, specifications, quality standards, and code requirements.
• Coordinate with contractors, airport and airline representatives, inspectors, and engineering disciplines.
• Attend pre-construction and progress meetings, prepare status reports, negotiate change orders, and help resolve construction and design issues.
• Determine material specifications, coordinate material testing, conduct surveys, measure quantities, and document site activities through logs and photographs.
• Support proposals, project budget and schedule estimates, constructability reviews, and construction inspection guidance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related infrastructure-focused discipline.
• Recent graduate or professional with up to five years of progressive transportation or municipal construction management experience.
• Knowledge of construction methods, documentation, engineering specifications, and construction plans.
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD or Civil 3D and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, work outdoors year-round, occasionally work overnight during April–October, carry up to 50 pounds, and stand for extended periods.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and permanent authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with airport construction, runway or taxiway rehabilitation, utility improvements, or heavy civil infrastructure.
• FAA drone pilot license.
• Experience with engineering, as-built, or topographic surveys using total stations, GPS, and data collectors.
• Construction site management, erosion and sediment control, or concrete inspection certifications.
