Test Engineer

Location: Union City, California, USA; onsite Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Salary: USD 40–55 per hour

What you will do

• Perform, document, and oversee product, environmental, electrical, climatic, mechanical, and corrosion testing.
• Maintain and troubleshoot thermal chambers, vibration tables, shock testers, humidity systems, and related test equipment.
• Develop test plans, analyze test data, prepare engineering reports, and investigate test anomalies and failures.
• Ensure testing complies with ISO 17025, ASTM, MIL-STD-810, IEC 60068, ISTA, and other applicable standards.
• Develop standard operating procedures, train laboratory personnel, and support audits and accreditation activities.
• Collaborate with customers, technicians, and internal teams to resolve technical issues and improve testing efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in environmental testing, sustaining engineering, or reliability engineering.
• Hands-on experience with climatic, mechanical, and corrosion test equipment, as well as mechanical and electrical setup diagrams.
• Knowledge of data acquisition, test automation, analysis tools, failure analysis, predictive maintenance, and statistical process control.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
• Authorization to work indefinitely in the United States without restriction or sponsorship. Ability to lift 50 pounds, use ladders and scissor lifts, operate power tools, and perform light machining.

Nice to have

• Experience in an ISO 17025-accredited laboratory.
• CRE, Six Sigma, or ASQ Quality Engineering certification.
• Product validation, shock, climate, battery, HALT/HASS, or accelerated life testing experience.
• Experience with aerospace, automotive, medical device, or consumer electronics testing, including LV124, VW80000, or ISO 16750.
• The right candidate may receive a senior title.
