Technical Requirements Systems Engineer (Mid/Senior) (Hybrid) - Java/JavaScript/AWS

Location: Annapolis Junction, Maryland, United States — hybrid. U.S. citizenship and a current Top Secret/SCI U.S. Government security clearance with a favorable polygraph are required.

Annual salary: $130,000–$270,000, depending on years of experience.

What you will do

• Oversee the planning, design, and implementation of a mission-critical system.
• Perform workflow and business process engineering, functional requirements gathering, and technical requirements definition.
• Collaborate with the Product Owner and stakeholders to elicit and document requirements.
• Work with the Task Lead, Scrum Master, System Engineers, and Developers to facilitate sprint execution, functional testing, and sprint reviews or demos.
• Act as a technical liaison between customers and development teams while managing customer expectations.
• Communicate complex technical details to technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent additional Systems Engineering experience; a master’s degree may substitute for two years of experience.
• At least 14 years of Systems Engineering experience involving complex hardware/software systems, requirements elicitation and analysis, functional allocation, systems requirements reviews, architecture, integration, testing, or end-to-end flow analysis.
• Experience with Java or JavaScript frameworks, RESTful microservices, and AWS cloud architecture and deployment.
• Experience eliciting and documenting functional and technical requirements and working with customers and development teams.
• Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies, Jira, and Confluence.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and hold a current Top Secret/SCI clearance with a favorable polygraph.

Nice to have

• Experience coordinating AI-driven solutions from conception through deployment and integrating them with existing software architecture.
• Ability to present AI approaches, tradeoffs, and implementation implications to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Knowledge of current AI and machine learning advancements and their application to complex systems.
