Senior React Native / Expo Engineer (Healthcare)

Location: San Francisco, CA; onsite five days per week

Salary: $230,000–$280,000 base salary, plus equity and benefits. Staff leveling may be available at $280,000–$330,000.

What you will do

• Own and architect high-performance React Native mobile applications for patients and providers.
• Integrate Apple HealthKit and Google Health Connect to ingest and visualize patient health data.
• Build secure messaging systems connecting patients with their care teams.
• Use Expo, EAS, Config Plugins, and over-the-air updates to manage cross-platform mobile delivery.
• Design offline-first synchronization, local caching, responsive navigation, accessibility, and mobile performance improvements.
• Integrate AI capabilities into mobile interfaces and establish shared engineering patterns across web and mobile.

Requirements

• 5–7+ years of frontend engineering experience with deep React Native and Expo expertise.
• Experience shipping and maintaining complex, data-heavy mobile applications in production.
• Strong knowledge of EAS builds, native module integration, app store review requirements, React rendering, asynchronous data fetching, and mobile performance.
• Experience owning CI/CD, crash monitoring, reliability, code review, and mobile testing practices.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with healthcare, compliance, and patient-safety requirements.
• Willingness to work in person in the San Francisco office five days per week.

Nice to have

• Native iOS development experience with Swift or Objective-C.
• Native Android development experience with Kotlin or Java.
• Staff-level experience setting technical direction across teams and developing other engineers.
• Experience using frontier agentic AI tools and integrating AI into products.

Hiring process

• 30-minute remote recruiter introduction.
• Two-hour remote technical round with practical coding and application design.
• 45-minute remote behavioral interview followed by a two-hour onsite team meeting with the San Francisco team.
