Staff Software Engineer (Mobile)

Location: San Francisco, CA (hybrid); office attendance is expected 2–3 days per week at 44 Montgomery Street. Candidates must be based in the San Francisco metro area or able to relocate independently within 90 days of starting.

Salary: $239,000–$270,000 annual base salary, plus stock options and benefits.

What you will do

• Own team architecture, provide system-wide design guidance, decompose architectures into components, and make tradeoffs across efficiency, stability, extensibility, and product flexibility.
• Use AI to validate architectural decisions and design AI-augmented workflows such as automated code generation and incident analysis.
• Establish security, compliance, quality, and correctness guardrails for responsible AI usage.
• Drive organization-wide engineering best practices, technical-debt reduction, and preparation of the codebase for future roadmap requirements.
• Partner with design on a mobile design system and UX heuristics, and own mobile CI/CD, app releases, and SDK and framework upgrades.
• Influence large cross-team initiatives, mentor engineers across the organization, and lead high-stakes investigations and systemic reliability improvements.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience as a software engineer.
• At least 5 years of cumulative experience or exposure developing mobile applications with both Flutter and React Native.
• Experience with Dart and JavaScript/TypeScript for mobile development.
• Experience using AI for architectural decisions, designing AI-augmented engineering workflows, and establishing safety and quality guardrails.
• Demonstrated proactive, collaborative technical leadership and the ability to create clarity from ambiguity.
• Must be based in the San Francisco metro area or able to relocate independently within 90 days; hybrid office attendance is required.
