Security Engineering Manager (Cybersecurity)

Location: Chicago, IL, United States

Base annual salary: $170,000–$200,000 USD, plus eligibility for an annual bonus.

What you will do

• Lead a security engineering team responsible for cloud infrastructure security, application security, CI/CD hardening, DSPM, and SaaS security posture management.
• Remain hands-on with cloud security tooling, architecture reviews, and validation of engineering decisions.
• Own the security engineering program and drive continuous improvement across the development lifecycle and cloud environment.
• Manage team performance and growth while fostering technical excellence and ownership.
• Define and execute security engineering projects from conception through completion.
• Partner with DevOps, Engineering, and Product leadership to integrate security requirements into engineering roadmaps and drive remediation.

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on information security experience in cloud security, application security, or DevSecOps.
• Direct people management experience in a security or engineering context.
• Strong understanding of application security, CI/CD pipeline security, secrets management, and secure development practices.
• Ability to translate security strategy into actionable engineering requirements for security and development teams.
• Technical depth in cloud and application security, with the ability to lead complex engineering escalations.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with AWS security services and cloud-native tooling such as CSPM, CWPP, and DSPM.
• Experience with SAST, DAST, SCA, Infrastructure as Code, Terraform, or Spacelift.
• Experience securing custom CRM or other business-critical application environments.
• Knowledge of identity security for human and non-human identities, service accounts, and API keys.
