Sr. Security Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote (US)

Base pay: $155,000–$187,000 USD per year; the role may also be eligible for a corporate bonus plan.

What you will do

• Identify, prioritize, and remediate vulnerabilities across a Java-based payments platform and AWS infrastructure.
• Improve infrastructure security through IAM policy refinement, instance metadata protections, and network egress controls.
• Review AI-assisted development pipelines, tool integrations, and agent-accessible services.
• Develop secure development standards, patterns, and guardrails for engineering teams.
• Partner with the fractional CISO on risk assessments, remediation planning, and PCI DSS compliance initiatives.
• Improve incident response readiness, security monitoring, and communication with technical and executive stakeholders.

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on security engineering experience in application, cloud, or infrastructure security.
• Strong experience with AWS security services and primitives, including IAM, VPC networking, and secrets management.
• Experience securing large production codebases; JVM ecosystem experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with modern AI-assisted development tools and their security implications.
• Strong prioritization and communication skills, including the ability to advocate for security investments.

Nice to have

• Experience in payments, fintech, ecommerce, or subscription and billing platforms.
• Experience with secure SDLC practices and integrating SAST, DAST, or SCA tooling into CI/CD.
• Security certifications such as AWS Security Specialty, CISSP, OSCP, or GIAC.
• Familiarity with global, multi-currency, or tax-calculation systems and data-sensitivity considerations.
