Mechanical Engineer III (HVAC)

What you will do

• Design HVAC, mechanical utility, plumbing, and piping systems for new buildings, renovations, additions, and industrial processes.
• Prepare load calculations, utility assessments, energy models, design reports, code evaluations, plans, P&IDs, schedules, specifications, and installation details.
• Manage mechanical discipline scopes, project budgets, priorities, and design activities across studies, conceptual design, construction documentation, and construction administration.
• Coordinate designs with architects, engineers, clients, construction managers, subcontractors, vendors, manufacturers, and trade partners.
• Support construction through RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch lists, field surveys, and progress reports.
• Lead quality checks, mentor less experienced engineers and designers, and act as Engineer of Record for eligible small to medium projects.

Requirements

• ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical focus.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in an AEC firm.
• Professional Engineer registration in good standing.
• Intermediate experience with engineering calculations and HVAC, mechanical utility, and piping system design.
• Experience managing complex tasks, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and directing the work of others.

Nice to have

• Experience in life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotech, laboratory, or food and beverage environments, including GMP manufacturing.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam Revu.
• Experience applying mechanical, plumbing, fire, and building codes and standards such as ASHRAE, SMACNA, ISPE, FDA, ISO, NFPA, and OSHA.
• LEED, WELL, or another sustainable design accreditation, or experience with sustainable design.
• Experience with field surveys, plumbing design, Revit plugins, Dynamo, Grasshopper, Rhino, and mechanical systems troubleshooting.
