Assistant Underwriter, Financial Lines

Location: Singapore; primarily office-based

What you will do

• Underwrite new and renewal business across Commercial Directors and Officers Liability, Professional Indemnity, Commercial Crime, and Financial Institutions lines.
• Assess risks using claims history, company information, financial statements, broker submissions, and input from subject matter experts.
• Build broker relationships, expand the broker network, attend market events, and support new business generation.
• Prepare monthly management information covering submissions, bind rate, average premium, and total premium.
• Support growth, profitability, account targeting, product development, multinational plans, and cross-marketing initiatives.
• Coordinate with legal, claims, finance, accounting, administration, and other service centers while maintaining underwriting compliance and reporting.

Requirements

• MAS-recognized insurance qualification.
• Proven experience in Financial Lines underwriting.
• Experience in risk assessment, new business reinsurance negotiations, and renewal retention strategy development.
• Ability to analyze financial statements.
• Strong communication, networking, relationship-building, organization, and time-management skills.
• Customer- and sales-oriented approach with a proactive and accountable working style.

Nice to have

• Experience underwriting Cyber insurance.
