Actuarial Analyst I

What you will do

• Support detailed reserve adequacy studies for reinsurance business underwritten across APAC, with potential support for other international locations.
• Assist with quarterly closing activities, including plan ELR validation, actuarial-versus-expected analysis, and roll-forward analysis.
• Support IFRS 17 best estimate liability calculations and local statutory reporting.
• Explore and develop new reserving approaches and methodologies.
• Participate in group-wide projects to improve reserving processes and collaborate with pricing actuarial, underwriting, claims, finance, compliance, and senior management.
• Deliver and communicate results on time.

Requirements

• Student Actuary of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or a similar professional body.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in mathematics, accounting, economics, statistics, business, or a related field.
• Recent graduate with preferably some initial property and casualty actuarial experience.
• Knowledge or experience in general insurance reserving; reinsurance experience is advantageous.
• Strong Excel skills are mandatory. Excel VBA, SQL, and Python are advantageous.
• Strong organisational, attention-to-detail, teamwork, independent working, and written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Excel VBA, SQL, Python, or ResQ.
• Previous reinsurance reserving experience.
