Development Engineer (Photonics)

Location: Goettingen, Germany; regular full-time onsite position.

What you will do

• Develop, commission, and validate complex measurement and test systems for opto-mechanical modules and fiber assemblies.
• Design test procedures and coordinate requirements for mechanical components, software, and other system components.
• Conduct sensitivity analyses to identify relevant influencing and disturbance variables.
• Plan, execute, and evaluate measurement campaigns for product development, verification, and validation.
• Define test criteria and create structured test and inspection concepts.
• Implement measurement procedures in production and support optimization during series production, including test, maintenance, operating, and calibration documentation.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in photonics, optical engineering, optical systems, laser technology, physics, or a similar field.
• Strong knowledge of technical optics, including optical imaging quality and aberrations, as well as optical device development.
• Experience with measurement and qualification technology, preferably involving the manufacturing or assembly of optical systems and fiber assemblies.
• Experience evaluating, representing, and analyzing experimental data.
• Advanced Python scripting skills for data analysis.
• Business-fluent German and English.
