Senior Systems Engineer (Analytical Instrumentation)

What you will do

• Serve as the senior technical expert for complex questions across the analytical detector portfolio.
• Own sustaining engineering activities for released products, including technical escalations, verification, obsolescence management, and product improvements.
• Investigate complex technical issues through experimentation, measurement, data analysis, and root-cause analysis.
• Drive cross-functional resolution across optics, electronics, firmware, mechanics, manufacturing, and applications.
• Support supplier transitions, component substitutions, manufacturing improvements, and portfolio optimization.
• Preserve technical knowledge and represent R&D in senior technical reviews and management forums.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or PhD in Physics, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field, plus at least 4 years of relevant industrial experience.
• Deep expertise in one or more areas including optics, fluidics, precision mechanics, motion systems, thermal management, electronics, signal processing, or analytical instrumentation.
• Strong systems-thinking skills and experience troubleshooting complex technical issues through experimentation, measurement, data analysis, and root-cause analysis.
• Experience with released products, sustaining engineering, technical escalations, or product lifecycle activities.
• Professional proficiency in English and German is required.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to customer, supplier, and manufacturing sites; travel is approximately 10%.

Nice to have

• Experience with analytical instrumentation, chromatography systems, or laboratory equipment.
• Knowledge of UV/Vis absorbance, fluorescence, refractive index, or light-scattering detector technologies.
