Director, Specialty Operations (Pharmaceutical)

Location: Princeton, New Jersey, United States; full-time onsite role

Salary: $186,489–$278,875 annually, plus incentive opportunity

What you will do

• Lead the specialty operations strategy and launch execution for a new ultra-orphan specialty product.
• Build operating processes covering specialty distribution, buy-and-bill, dispensing, HUB services, patient support, reimbursement, and logistics.
• Coordinate with Brand Marketing, Access Strategy, Sales, Patient Access, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Finance, Legal, Compliance, and institutional providers.
• Establish governance structures and escalation pathways across specialty pharmacies, distributors, HUB services, vendors, and providers.
• Oversee order processing, patient enrollment, care coordination, patient services, drug distribution, and operational risk mitigation.
• Define KPIs, oversee dashboards and reporting, present performance insights to senior leadership, and lead quarterly vendor business reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required; MBA or related advanced degree preferred.
• 5–7 years of experience in specialty model development or operations, preferably including a product launch and management of direct reports.
• Experience supporting ultra-rare, specialty, or medical benefit therapies with complex reimbursement and longitudinal patient management requirements.
• Deep knowledge of specialty operating models, medical benefit reimbursement, specialty distribution, specialty pharmacy, HUB services, buy-and-bill economics, and site-of-care delivery models.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage complex projects, solve problems strategically, and deliver operational improvements.
• Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, healthcare regulations, patient-centric programs, and operational governance across external vendors and institutional stakeholders.
