Design Manager (Building Engineering)

What you will do

• Lead design delivery across multidisciplinary project teams from concept through completion.
• Develop and maintain design delivery programmes, plans, resources and documentation requirements.
• Coordinate communication, information flow and interfaces between clients, internal teams, sub-consultants and partners.
• Lead design team meetings, workshops and issue-resolution activities while managing actions, RFIs, early warnings and project communications.
• Manage scope, quotations, change control, delays, risks, quality, technical compliance and budget impacts.
• Support project close-out, design audits, quality management systems, team development and practice management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in engineering, design management or project delivery within a design consultancy.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design delivery on complex projects.
• Strong leadership, facilitation, written and verbal communication, collaboration and client relationship skills.
• Ability to manage pressure, varied workloads, tight deadlines, risks, change control and programme impacts.
• Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint; knowledge of design processes, project governance and document approval workflows.

Nice to have

• Experience with Microsoft Project.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 quality processes.
• Experience with third-party design audits and technical registers.
