Design Engineer Intern - Summer 2027

Location: Onsite at the hirify.global campus in Pella, Iowa, USA

What you will do

• Design and detail purchased items, machined parts, weldments, and assembly drawings in SolidWorks.
• Support engineering technicians with building and testing prototypes.
• Analyze production issues and help develop practical solutions.
• Calculate unknown loads and directions using available data and assumptions.
• Develop bills of materials and test design changes made by technicians.
• Analyze structural components and recommend solutions aligned with design goals and customer needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Agriculture, or Electrical Engineering.
• Knowledge of FEA, hydraulics, electronics, statistics, strength of materials, durability, and product serviceability.
• Ability to identify root causes of defective parts and evaluate component sizing, material strength, fatigue strength, and manufacturability.
• Ability to produce accurate, professional, error-free documentation and demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.

• Previous internship experience.
